2018 Directory of Online Colleges and Universities in Oregon

Oregon has more than 77 post-secondary institutions. Of these, 18 offer online programs. A total of five are public four-year colleges or universities and four are public community or technical colleges and nine are private colleges, universities, or career and vocational schools. 364 online certificate programs, 1,701 online associate programs, 2,288 online bachelor’s programs, 1,134 online master’s programs, 1,451 online professional programs, and 317 online doctoral programs are offered at these schools. These programs offer students courses in subjects such as computer programming, law enforcement, and health science.

Oregon is located in the Northwest region of the United States. The 9th largest state in the nation, it has an area of 98,379 square miles. The state’s average annual temperature is about 58°F.

Of the states in the country, Oregon has the 25th smallest population. The state has 36 counties and 3,831,074 residents living in these counties. About 39 percent of Oregon’s population is under the age of 30. Also, it has one of the least diverse populations in the country. An estimated 22 percent of the state’s population identifies itself as belonging to a racial or ethnic minority group.

The capital city of Oregon is Salem. However, with a population of 583,776 residents, Portland is the state’s largest city. Of the state’s residents, an estimated 6.56 percent reside in the greater Portland area. Oregon’s other big cities include Eugene, Salem, Gresham, and Hillsboro.

As compared to residents in other states around the nation, Oregon residents generally have a lower than average level of education. According to the 2010 Census, a reported 17.1 percent of the state’s residents over the age of 25 have completed high school, 4 percent have at least an associate degree, 3.2 percent have degrees at the bachelor’s level or higher, and 1 percnt hold a graduate level degree.
